The Last Dance
We had a heat wave...or should I say a humidity wave...this weekend here in Providence. It was the type of weather that left us a bit lethargic, a bit cranky, so we decided that a trip to the beach was the only way to cure our mood. It might very well be the last swim of the season. It's hard to know what the rest of fall has in store for us. But, we plan on making the most of these nice days, for us New Englanders know well enough that the first snow could be just around the corner.
How our little man loves to be outside...he craves the freedom of long stretches of beach, and rolling grassy slopes. He hates to be constrained- and that includes not only indoor spaces, but clothes, diapers and especially socks. I am not sure what we are going to do this winter, as going naked in 30 below weather is clearly not an option.
In fact, I am quite nervous about this winter. Right now, most of our days are spent outside, at the park, playing on the lush lawns around Brown's campus, visiting farms and beaches, taking long, winding bike rides and walks. Of course many of these things can be done during the winter months, just not with the same amount of comfort and ease, and not for long stretches of time.

(ohhh...those curls....how I love those curls)
I have been tearing through our local newspapers, and studying the archives over at KidOInfo, trying to find fun activities to partake in this winter. Music class, swim lessons, story time- half of these activities are designed to keep mothers from going crazy during the long, dark stretch of winter.(is there anything sexier than watching the man you love become a father? when i see my two boys together, i simply melt)
But alas, I am getting ahead of myself. I suppose I need to be reminded to live in the here...in the now. There are still glimpses of color, a few flowers giving us their last hooray. The weather is still perfect for our rugged little mountain man baby. Life is good...oh so good... and that is enough for now.

Aww. I love the close up of lil Vijay's face. Too cute Christine!!
Clothes on backwards so little hands can't get to fasteners! That was the only way I kept one of my toddlers covered during his undressing stage...
Your family is so beautiful. This is the first time I have stumbled upon your blog, by recommendation of a co-worker, and I am so excited to read more and stay 'in the loop.' :-)
Such beautiful photos Christine... Just beautiful!
... and peaceful...
