I figure what better way to start off the New Year than with some sweet news! I will be teaching at Squam Art Workshops (SAW) this year. Seriously...I am so honored and thrilled to be able to contribute to the amazing 2011 line-up for SAW.
My class, titled Pitch Perfect, will help aspiring writers learn how to get their writing published; from idea to actual publication. You will learn how to craft the perfect pitch, how to find contact information for editors, how to follow-up and even how to handle rejections. At the end of class, you will have completed a query letter, ready to be sent to the magazines of your choosing, and have developed a strategy to move your writing forward. I will be sharing tons of tips and tricks during our time together (things I wish someone had shared with me when i first started out!). Pretty exciting stuff!
I have now attendedSAW a total of four times- as a student and a volunteer- and I have writtenabout it extensively. It is a truly amazing experience...I hope you will take the opportunity to find out for yourself! I would love to see you there!
*These crazy cool candy shop pictures were taken while I was home- there is a new shop in town called Sweet Thing, and it is adorable! I can't get over that candy chair in the first picture!
