We did it!

With our little guy due in less than 6 weeks, I am not going to be bringing home my chickens just yet. I have loaned my coop to a friend who lives a few blocks away, and she is going to be raising my chickens until I have settled into my new life!
But for now...I feel like a local celebrity. I had a photo shoot for Rhode Island Monthly Magazine on Monday, and today, I have another one for the local paper. Kind of a funny thing to be known for, but hey, there are worse names than "The Chicken Lady!"
For Providence-area folks interested in raising chickens, The Southside Community Land Trust is holding an educational workshop, Raising Urban Chickens on Saturday, November 13. Read more about it here.
CONGRATULATIONS! I'm so happy for you!
Congrats! That's awesome!
congratulations!
Congratulations Chicken Lady! You brought a bit of sense to Providence today. Great job.
so proud!
congrats!!!!!! so proud of you.
That's wonderful- congratulations!
Congratulations! and I just love that picture! What a precious little chicken cottage!
Hooray! In 2000, I had chickens in my urban backyard of Salt Lake City. After 3 years of chicken-keeping, the city told me they had to go. This was before the "chicken movement", and it broke my heart to give my hens away (to the good barns of a local goat farmer). I now live in rural New Mexico, and have 13 chickens. I am a professional baker, and have lots of fruit scraps...it's amazing to give the hens our leftovers, and see them make glorious eggs. Congratulation on your victory!!
Justice Prevails! Congratulations.
yippee! those girls need to be with you in that sweet little home!
That is such excellent news! Congrats!!!
This is fantastic news! Glad you get to have your chickens! I don't know what I'd do without mine! Can you believe in our city limits we are allowed chickens but out in the 'country' (in a subdivision) we are not allowed to have chickens! Doesn't make sense... but we have them anyway! Good for you! Jamie V in MT

VICTORY!
Hi Christine,
I just wanted to let you know that I've dedicated a poultry post over on my blog to your successful backyard chicken win! You're an inspiration! :)
I always enjoy visiting your blog. Thanks for the inspiration. And good luck! with the upcoming birth of your son.

Congrats on the victory over the city hen-pecking you!!
I love this little hen house! Yes, it's a better title than the Crazy Cat Lady - which I have deemed myself. I care for 15+ cats. I have what I declare a sanctuary since I have a lot of land around me. Cats wander to my home or are dumped. If they stay, they get altered.
About 2 years ago I used old ammo boxes to make cat shelters. This photo is the day they were made. I've since upgraded my back entrance of my home - my "diamond in the rough"! =) Kitty Condos
I have wanted to dress up the "condos" but not taken the time. Your project is a great inspiration! I will post the project when I get around to it and then link it to your post.
Again Congrats! And congrats on the new little one!
~Kelly
That's so great! I want chickens again!
