We had an amazing time in Philadelphia this weekend, attending the wedding of our good friends, exploring the city and stuffing our faces with some good eats. When I first met my husband, he was living in Philadelphia, so the city holds many a fond memory for us.

Whenever I am in town, there are a few shops that always demand my attention. First up is
Verde...a gorgeous gift shop and florist. I love the way that they display their goods...like these letterpress cards clothes-pinned to an antique birdcage...how creative!

Of course I couldn't resist checking out the fabric supply at
Spool, an adorable shop devoted to all things sewing.

Their selection of kids clothing patterns was especially cute, and very inspiring for further-on down the road.

I even found some great prints for a few nursery projects I am starting...

We found an incredible burger joint in a rather sketchy part of town, aptly named
Sketch Burger. We don't eat beef, or pork, so sometimes, burger joints don't have a lot to offer us, but Sketch had an incredible selection of vegan-friendly burgers, turkey burgers and even elk burgers. Guess which one my husband chose...that's right, elk!

He was in heaven, and I viewed it as his reward for shopping with me all day!

With a side of hand-cut fries...of course.

Despite the sketch factor, I highly recommend this place if you should visit Philly. Just be warned...it is WAY off the beaten path!

I will be back tomorrow with a sneak peek of the nursery progress! I can't wait to show you what I have been up to!
Are those little lunch bags in the bottom left corner of the photo from spool? I think I'm in love!
ahhh such gorgeous photos, as always. i can't wait to see nursery stuff, that fabric is perfect!
You didn't try the vegan cheesesteaks (somewhere closer to South St)?!
I <3 Philly.
Great photos of your trip to Philadelphia! I haven't been to Sketch Burger yet but I hear good things.
Oh man. I am such an elk fan. It's just such a lean and flavor-packed meat. We can get it at a local store near us and it is one thing I am willing to splurge on once a month or so, a couple of elk burgers for my husband and I.
All these photos are so pretty! I love the flowers... kind of makes me want to stop by a florist here in Illinois...
the birdcage with the cards is fantastic!!! Maybe I can add a little one in my studio and have postcard that I can change every so often.
Can't wait to see you next post! :)
gorgeous photos! i love the letterpress card stand. so cute!
Hey lady! Phew I have been out of the loop. Love the pictures, and what a brave guy to try Elk. Did he say if it tasted like beef?
Love the fabric and look forward to seeing the nursery update!
We're only about 2 hrs from Philly, and hope to visit sometime this year. (That is, if our house renovations stop eating all of our money!) Can't wait to see the nursery!
