Heartbroken
I was so excited to continue the discussion from yesterday, but this morning's events have left me feeling much too sad. Last night something broke into the coop and killed one of my chickens, Polly. I found her this morning in the neighbors yard. I am heartbroken because I feel like it was my duty to keep her safe, and I failed.
So all I can hope is that it was quick and painless. I miss my girl already...

OH NO!!!! That is too sad. What do you think got into the coop, and how? You are in my thoughts - loosing an animal friend is hard.
Ohhhhhh :( It was probably a weasel, since you did find her. They suck the blood from them and leave them. This happens with our chickens at least once a year. Watch out for holes, cracks, etc. Good Luck!
