Squam: Day Three

Saturday was our last day of classes, very bittersweet. I was excited for my class with Lizzy House, but shocked that I was already nearing the end of my Squam days. I went into the class thinking that block printing would be a piece of cake...carve a cool pattern, smoosh it down on some fabric, away you go. Not so much...I have a new found respect for the art of block printing. I pretty much threw my back out carving away at my linoleum block. Lizzy was a fabulous and encouraging instructor, but my goodness, that is a whole lotta work for a little strip of printed fabric. I was totally thrilled with my results, but the question remains...will I ever use my newly acquired skill again?Lizzy has a wonderful instructional post HERE on how block printing works, if you are interested.Tomorrow I am going to wrap up my Squam posting and return to real life! I am saving some of the best for last including the Squam Art Sale and authors night! Stay tuned!

Christine! I am so glad that you took the class, and I love that you've put your block on your banner. You did great. I hope that you will keep printing! See you next year for sure.

Cheers,

Lizzy

Christine - I love, love, love your block print design. It has me longing to have been in classes that day! It was so lovely to meet you (and your Mom) at Squam!
Happy weekending to you...
