Beauty from a Beast
Remember this beast. Great bones, but in rough shape and in need of a little TLC, which came in the form of a nice sand down, a coat of dove gray paint and *amazing* turquoise handles from Anthropologie. I also lined the drawers with some pretty paper that I had laying around.
Okay...so here it is, all ready for its debut!

The prints above the dresser are from Creative Thursday, the lamp is courtesy of Pottery Barn and tray is from Ikea. The rest of the knick-knacks are from a variety of sources that I no longer remember...oops, bad blogger!
wow, wow, wow Christine - simply GORGEOUS!!!
Meg :)
love it! could you share the paint color?
It's so beautiful!
Just curious...what brand paint did you use for the 'dove gray'? I'm looking for a similar color white...
I am doing a dresser that looks exactly like this one- would you mind telling me what kind of paint you used? (semi-gloss, eggshell...ect) and did you put a poly coat on top? thanks SO much.
Hi Sarah, I used an eggshell paint. The color was Dove Gray and I had it mixed into C2 LoVo paint, which is environmentally friendly, low voc paint. I did not put a poly coat over it, and it has still aged very well. I wasn't able to find a poly coat that didn't contain yucky ingredients, so that is why I skipped it!
Adorable! Ever since I saw your post on Design*Sponge, I have been looking for a small ceramic owl! haha yours is so cute! Love your blog :)
You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses. Youve got a design here thats not too flashy, but makes a statement as big as what youre saying. Great job, indeed.
Kudos for a great article! Yours is one of the most interesting articles I’ve read on this subject. Your readers are lucky to read this.
